Urdd Gobaith Cymru has announced that this week, on Friday, May the 1st, it will attempt to turn the world red, white and green, in a day of fund-raising in support of Llamau, Wales’ leading homelessness charity.
During all of this week, (Monday, April 27-Friday, May 1st) members and celebrity friends of the Urdd will be encouraging everyone to get involved, building up to the Urdd’s big Red, White and Green Day on Friday, May 1st.
On the big day, families, children and even pets will be encouraged to wear red, white and green, share their photos on social media using the hashtag #UrddLlamau and nominate five people to do the same. For many, everyday life has completely changed and while some might be struggling with having to stay at home and not see friends and family, for others, the struggle is much more challenging.
The work of Llamau, Wales’ leading homelessness charity for young people and vulnerable women, is more crucial than ever. The charity is reporting an increase in cases of domestic violence as well as young people facing homelessness, with ‘sofa surfers’ being asked to leave friends and family’s homes because of ‘lockdown’. Llamau needs help to support the young people, women and children in their care during this time - many without access to gardens or spaces to play and unwind.
So join the Urdd and Llamau this week, to have some fun and raise lots of money!
