The aim of the competition is to reward an individual who
has dedicated his/her time to learn Welsh,
who sees a change in their lives because they have learned Welsh
who takes pride in being Welsh.
who can show how he/she uses the language from day to day socially and in the school/college/work.
who promotes the use of Welsh among others
Who can compete?
The competition is open to any learner who is a member of the Urdd and aged between 19 and under 25 years old.
(The definition of ‘learner’ is noted in the General Rules for Learners of the Syllabus)
How to compete?
All competitors will be required to answer the following questions in a video presentation (no longer than 2 minutes) and in writing on the competition form:
1. A sentence introducing yourself
2. Does anyone in your family speak Welsh?
3. Reason for learning Welsh
4. How did you learn Welsh?
5. The effect learning Welsh has had on the life of the competitor and the use he/she makes
of the language.
6. Hopes for the future

The form and video must be submitted by 1 March 2020 to Adran yr Eisteddfod, Gwersyll yr Urdd, Glan-llyn, Llanuwchllyn, Y Bala, Gwynedd. LL23 7ST or email@example.com by following the instructions.
The preliminary round will be held on Saturday, 4 April 2020 in one of the Urdd Centres where various tasks will be set by the Adjudicators to prove the ability of the competitor to communicate through the medium of Welsh.
Three competitors from the preliminary rounds will be chosen to come to the final which will be held at the National Urdd Eisteddfod on Tuesday, 26 May 2020 before deciding who will be worthy of the Learners Medal Competition medal in 2020.
