Broadcasting

The Urdd National Eisteddfod is an event which generates lots of interest in the media. It is broadcast live on the television and radio as well as reported in national and local newspapers and television and radio news bulletins. By registering to compete, the branch leader or individual member confirms and agrees that every competitor adheres to the broadcasting rights of the Urdd National Eisteddfod (in accordance with point 27 of the General Rules Syllabus 2017) which could mean broadcasting images of the member live on television, in repeat broadcasts and broadcasts on the Urdd website as well as other platforms.

In local and regional Eisteddfodau, the Urdd will take pictures of competitors for marketing purposes in the media. By registering to compete, the branch leader confirms and agrees that all competitors adhere to the Urdd’s right to take pictures of competitors for the reasons stated above.

Every competitor must ensure the performing rights for every own choice piece. If this is not done we will be unable to broadcast the performance. Assistance with clearing performing rights can be found by phoning PRS for Music on 020 7306 4033. It is not necessary to ensure performing rights for test pieces that appear in the Syllabus.
