About the Centre

In 2013, a gentleman called Michael Makin contacted the Urdd – he was looking for a youth organisation who would be interested in receiving a building in Hungary as a gift, with the condition that it would be used as a resource for young people to experience the wonderful country.

Michael Makin doesn’t have a particular connection to Wales, but he spent time in the Llangollen area when he was younger and was enchanted by the area’s beauty, its culture and the Welsh language.

The Urdd received his house as a gift, and following a period of renovation and modifications to the building to suit groups of young people, Tŷ Kisbodak Ház is now ready to be officially opened and to receive groups from the Urdd.
