Tomi Roberts-Jones has been a level 2 sport apprentice over the past year, we adapted her programme and gave him the opportunity to work part-time as he is an athlete with training requirements and targets for him to hit outside of work.
At work Tomi helps provide sports clubs for children across Cardiff, keeping them safe while they have fun experiences and exercise at the same time.
Outside of work Tomi is an athlete, having competed for Wales at the Commonwealth youth games in Trinidad and Tobago in 2023. Tomi won Wales' first ever gold medal at the Youth Commonwealth Games. This was a men's T38 100m race, Tomi's time was 13.27.
Tomi is currently part of Team Wales' athletics commission, for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2026. Tomi said: "It's a great opportunity to represent the athlete's voice and contribute to the future of Commonwealth sport. I'm proud to support fellow athletes."
In the future Tomi wants to continue competing and also to work within the sports field. Tomi shows everyone nothing can hold you back from your dreams. Hard work and perseverance pay off.
