Are you passionate about nature and the environment? Do have an interest in following a career within the sustainability and conservation sector?

Here’s a golden opportunity for you to gain experience in various aspects of the sector including hands on sessions, talks from employers and employees from nature and conservation organisations as well as fun activities such as coasteering.

This 5-day residential course includes:

  • Guided walks and activities in a variety of habitats including Upland (Preseli hills) Coast (Pembrokeshire Coast National Park) and Woodland (Ty Canol Woods Nature reserve).
  • Sessions and activities that allow you meet and receive advice from employers in the environmental sector on possible pathways into an environmental career.
  • Practical conservation sessions including undertaking nature and wildlife surveys, tracking specific species such as small mammals, promoting bird habitats, and identifying species of interest.
  • Coasteering session along the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast
  • Various sustainability and conservation themed workshops. 

 

Summer camp details

27- 31 July 2026. For young people aged 15-19 years old or in yrs. 10, 11, 12 & 13. 
Please note this course will be delivered entirely through the medium of Welsh.

Accommodation

En-suite rooms which sleep 6 and 8.

Facilities

Tea and coffee facilities are available all day, with access to a lounge area to relax. Wi-fi connection available throughout the site.

Food

Breakfast, lunch, tea and super will be on offer with healthy and nutritious choices. We use local produce when possible and can cater for all dietary requirements.

Monday:

11am- Arrival, room allocation and orientation

12:15- Lunch

13:00-17:00- Woodland Habitat Session in the ancient Ty Canol woods (near the centre)

18:00- Supper

19:00- Ice breaker games and setting week’s targets

 

Tuesday:

8:15- Breakfast

9:00- Conservation session with Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Ranger

12:15- Lunch

13:00- Emergency Outdoor First Aid training (you will get a certificate for this course)

15:00- Break

15:30- Emergency Outdoor First Aid training

18:00- Supper

19:00 Session with Keep Wales Tidy on Recycling

21:00- Stargazing session (weather permitting)

 

Wednesday

8:00 Breakfast

9:00- Travel to Strumble head to Spot seals and Dolphins and undertake marine wildlife survey

12:00 Lunch

13:00- Coasteering at Abereiddi

18:00- Supper

19:00- Talk by Car y Mor- Wales first regenerative seaweed farm- chance to taste seaweed products

20:30- Creatures of the Night walk and Biofluorescent Nature

 

Thursday

8:00- Breakfast

9:00- River Nature Survey (Kicksampling)

11:30-12:30- Career session with Dwr Cymru

12:30- Lunch

13:30-15:30- Lab session with Darwin centre at Pentre Ifan

15:30- Break

16:00- Rockpooling and Marine nature session with Darwin centre on Newport beach

18:00 Supper

19:00- Sunset Dolphin boat trip

8:00- Breakfast and packing

9:30- Session with Trydan Werdd- Green Energy session

12:15- Lunch

13:00- Sign Duke of Edinburgh papers, and creative activism session
