Dafydd Wyn Jones

(LEVEL 3) APPRENTICE OF THE MONTH

April 2020

Dafydd Wyn Jones comes from Rhydlewis, Ceredigion. He attended Ysgol Bro Teifi and while he was at school, Dafydd worked part time at the Urdd's Llangrannog Residential Centre. He loved the work and after leaving school decided to do an Outdoor Activities Apprenticeship there, with the Urdd!

What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?

I love having the opportunity to receive training, develop my skills whilst also earning a salary!

Briefly describe your duties.

I hold activities across Llangrannog residential centre for groups of participants, while also promoting the Welsh language. I also do various maintenance tasks to ensure all activities are safe and ready for use.

How important is it to do your apprenticeship through the medium of Welsh?

It means that I can develop my Welsh further since leaving school.

How has doing the apprenticeship affected your personal development?

I've had the chance to develop many of my skills. I have learned how to handle different types of participants correctly and understand why we need to do this.

What are your interests outside of work?

Bowling! I'm part of the Welsh Bowls team and really enjoy playing the game!

Describe your experience of doing an apprenticeship with the Urdd in 3 words!

Definitely worth doing!
