Eryn lives in Wrexham, where she attended Ysgol Bryn Tabor before moving on to Ysgol Morgan Llwyd. She then completed her Level 3 Childcare qualification at Coleg Cambria.

Eryn now works at Cylch Meithrin Bro Alun, where she is currently completing her Level 4 Childcare apprenticeship. Her assessor, Rebecca, nominated her for “always being full of energy and joy, and Eryn completes her work to a very high standard. Eryn was nervous to complete some of her apprenticeship in front of an external assessor, but she showed confidence and her energetic and fun nature, so did this brilliantly. Eryn was recently promoted and has taken on more responsibility.”

Erin Williams, Manager at Cylch Meithrin Bro Alun, added: “Eryn is a very valuable member of the team here at Bro Alun, and her work and commitment is greatly appreciated. The things she is learning on her current course and is able to feedback and alter our practice is great. We’re lucky to have her!”

Why did you start your apprenticeship with the Urdd

I started my apprenticeship with the Urdd because I have always wanted to complete my Level 5 qualification. Now that I’m a room leader, it's the perfect opportunity for me, as I lead both staff and children. I’m in the ideal role to complete my Level 4 Professional Practice, as well as my Level 4 and 5 Leadership and Management qualifications, because I want to continue developing my knowledge and skills.

What do you enjoy most about your job, and how has the apprenticeship affected your work?

The thing I enjoy most about my job is giving the children the best day, every day.
I love how we follow the voice of the child, and it means so much to me that I can complete assignments in both English and Welsh. I can write in English, where I feel more confident, and complete my voice recordings in Welsh for other elements. I really value having the choice of which language to use for different parts of my assignments.

What are your interests outside work?

My interests outside of work include crocheting and I love watching different TV series. I also enjoy spending time with my family, my boyfriend, and friends, as well as watching Wales play rugby union — I’m a big rugby fan.

In what way has your apprenticeship contributed to your personal development?

The apprenticeship has contributed to my personal development in many different ways. It has pushed me to improve my writing skills and my confidence when being recorded. It has also helped me reach my targets and deadlines, ensuring that all my work is completed on time.

What do you hope to do after your apprenticeship?

After completing my Level 4 Professional Practice, I would like to progress to my Level 4 and 5 Leadership and Management qualifications with Rebecca. I would then like to complete my Level 5 Playwork qualification, as I already hold Level 3 but want to continue developing my knowledge and skills.

Describe your duties.

I am a Room Leader at Cylch Meithrin Bro Alun, where I work with Early Education in the morning and lead the Cylch in the afternoon. My job is to give the children the best day every day, and I pride myself on doing that!

I work as part of an amazing team where we all work incredibly hard to ensure every child has a voice and feels heard. We always plan activities and outings based on the children’s best interests, helping them develop their skills in a fun and inviting way.

I also make sure that we consistently promote the Welsh language and provide the children with the best possible play opportunities.

Describe your experience in 3 words.

Positivesupportiveand helpful.

Would you like to add anything to your story?

I work at Cylch Meithrin Bro Alun, where in 2024 we won the award for Best Cylch in both the North East and the whole of Wales, and Miss Erin won Best Practitioner. In 2025, we also won the award for Best Ti a Fi in Wales.

I am hard-working and believe that you never stop learning or developing — that’s why I’m really looking forward to starting my Level 4 and 5 Leadership and Management qualification. This will help me deepen my knowledge and understanding, while continuing to develop my skills so that I can keep giving the children in my setting the best day, every single day!
