Discovery Day: Sustainability 9:30am-2:30pm

Morning

During the first part of your experience you will participate in our woodland Cynefin session which will introduce you to the variety of plant, animal and insect species to be found in this particular habitat and ways we can protect them in a fun and practical way. There will be an opportunity to participate in a forest bathing session in Tŷ Canol woods and enjoy a period of tranquillity. 

Afternoon

In our waste workshop you'll learn about where exactly our waste goes; how long it takes for various materials to decompose and what can we do to reduce our waste and achieve a zero waste lifestyle. During the session you will need to work as a team to upcycle a selection of waste products into something useful or into a work of art. We will finish the afternoon with a short workshop on creative activism with a focus on climate change and sustainability.

Diwrnod Darganfod: Cyefin Preseli 9:30am-2:30pm

Morning

In the morning you will participate in a taster version of our mountain and woodland Cynefin session which will introduce you to aspects of local heritage, literature and nature in a fun and practical way. Then we will gather around the fire to discuss the challenges that face the area and those that live within it.

Afternoon

There are two options.

Option A: Rural Crafts taster session. Enjoy a session trying your hand at various rural crafts such as willowcraft, wood carving, natural dyeing and working with wool. 

Option B: You can enjoy a Fork to Plate taster session where you'll be introduced to aspects of growing food and eating locally and with the seasons.

We will finish the afternoon with a short Creative Activism workshop with a focus on local issues.

Discovery Day: Wellbeing 9:30am-2:30pm

Morning

We'll begin the day with a gentle discussion around the fire to share experiences, worries and expectations for the day. Then we will go wandering into Tŷ Canol woods to enjoy a period of forest bathing and meditation. On our way back we'll collect natural materials that we will use in our creative session back at the centre where you are invited to create something using what you have collected.

Afternoon

After lunch we shall go out into the garden and get our hands dirty learning about all aspects of growing food and the benefits of eating with the seasons. We will also learn about the wellbeing benefits of various herbs through smell and taste. We will finish the afternoon with a period of mindfulness around the fire with a cup of herbal tea or wholesome hot chocolate.
