Did you know?

May 2021 will be the first time that 16-17 year olds are able to vote in elections in Wales.

What is the Vote 16/17 project?

This is an Urdd campaign to raise awareness of the election, and to make sure that everyone who has the right to vote is able to register and participate in the election. The choice is ours this year of who will govern Wales for the next five years.

We will be sharing information on How to Vote and discussing Why we vote. We want to improve awareness of Welsh politics, so that everyone can feel confident when they give their vote on May 6th, 2021.

The project is funded by the UK Democracy Fund through the Joseph Rountree Reform Trust.

How to get involved?

There are many ways to get involved. Below, you will find the details of the events we are organizing.

'Ni Bia’r Dewis’ Conference

Are politicians doing enough to work for the votes of young people? Is voting a duty or a privilege for the newly eligible? Do we know enough about what powers the Senedd has?

Whatever the answers, one thing is certain – the choice belongs to us, the people of Wales.

The ‘Ni Bia’r Dewis’ virtual conference will be held Thursday evening, April 15th, at 7.00. The conference will feature 12 speakers, who will address some of these questions and many more, as we celebrate the vote for 16+.

Details of speakers to appear soon.

In the meantime, register here to receive a link to the event, and details of the resource pack which will be available to schools and youth groups.
