Come and stay at Gwersyll yr Urdd Cardiff during the week of the National Eisteddfod!

The Gwersyll is located in the bustle of Cardiff Bay, under the roof of the Wales Millennium Centre.

During the week of the Rhondda Cynon Taf National Eisteddfod, we will open our doors to the public.

Accommodation:

The Gwersyll offers an opportunity to experience the delights of the capital of Wales while staying in the unique building of the Wales Millennium Centre, one of the world's leading arts centres. There are 29 bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities.

Our Centre has been awarded a 4-star hostel rating by Visit Wales.

We have 3 rooms that sleep two, 1 that sleeps three, 3 rooms for groups of four, and 22 for groups of six.

There is also a hall in the Centre, lounges, a canteen, and classrooms, providing plenty of places to hang out! We can organize film screenings in the evenings or even a disco!

Cardiff and the Bay:

Cardiff is a modern city that attracts visitors from all over the world. It's a constantly developing city with Cardiff Bay, where the Camp is located, being one of Europe's most exciting seaside developments. On our doorstep is a plethora of first-class attractions that combine history and culture, the traditional and the contemporary - including theatres, museums, galleries, arts venues, and sports stadiums.

We have a variety of connections with different activities in the city, and we can organize some activities on your behalf. Come and talk to us at reception to discuss what's available.

There are many different and varied restaurants in the Bay and in the town. Our friendly staff can help you book a table at many of the city's restaurants.

National Eisteddfod:

The National Eisteddfod of Wales is the largest traveling cultural festival in Europe. This year, the Eisteddfod is being held in Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf from August 3-10, 2024.

How to Get to the Eisteddfod from the Bay:

It's easy enough to reach the Eisteddfod from Cardiff Bay. A train goes from the bay to Queen's Street station. Change there to catch either the Merthyr Tydfil, Aberdare, or Treherbert train to Pontypridd. The trains run every 15 munities and takes around 35 minutes from Cardiff Bay to Pontypridd.

Every morning, a member of the Urdd staff will be available to escort you on the train all the way to the Eisteddfod. Come and ask at reception the night before to find out when the guide will leave the following day.

Fun Days:

During the week of the Eisteddfod, we will be running Fun Days for children on various days. You're welcome to book a place for your children on the fun days. Your children will enjoy adventures in Cardiff Bay while you enjoy the Eisteddfod!

  • 7 night stay: £1050
  • 8 night stay: £1160
  • 9 night stay: £1260

We will provide bed linen and towels.

Breakfast can be added to your stay for £5 per person per day.
