Urdd Trip to Connemara, Ireland – August 2025

Following the success of projects in recent years, the Urdd is once again offering members the opportunity to travel to Connemara, Ireland, to work with the charity TG Lurgan. The aim is to educate a new group of young people from Wales about the Gaelic language, culture, and the process of creating music.

TG Lurgan's aim is to promote the learning of Gaelic through contemporary songs, with its YouTube channel attracting millions of viewers and leading the way in promoting a minority language on social media.

The project will be an opportunity for Urdd members to create a bilingual production in Welsh and Gaelic of a popular song—learning and recording audio in a studio, producing a music video, and ending the week with a concert to showcase their work to people from the local village.

The course will be led by experts who will ensure a fun-filled week, offering a unique opportunity to nurture and develop new skills.

Date of project: Tuesday 19 August – Saturday 23 August 2025

Location: Connemara, Ireland.

Successful applicants will be expected to find their way to Gwersyll Glan-llyn Bala, before heading by bus to Holyhead port traveling by ferry and bus over to Connemara Ireland.

**The Urdd will be happy to contribute towards the travel costs of individuals to get to Glan-llyn.**

Age: Successful applicants must be between 15 and 20 years old on the travel dates.

Urdd staff members will travel with you and will be available to support you throughout the trip.

The project will be fully funded by Urdd Gobaith Cymru (accommodation/travel and food). However, we do ask for a payment of £30 to secure your space.
