Sustainability and Nature Residential Course

This is a fantastic residential course that gives students in years 11-12 the opportunity to experience aspects of Nature Conservation and Sustainability. This course is offered in partnership with WWF Cymru.

This is a residential course for individuals who are considering following a career path within the nature conservation and sustainability sector and want a taste of what the sector has to offer.

Those attending will have an opportunity to hear the experiences and advice of individuals who already work with nature conservation organisations. As well as staying in accommodation which is located in the middle of the ancient forest of Pentre Ifan, which is on the doorstep of the wonderful coastline of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

During the 3-day residential course individuals will have the opportunity to do the following: 

  • Learn what makes upland, woodland and coastal habitats unique and how organizations act to protect/enrich these to promote their biodiversity and cultural heritage
  • Experience different aspects of practical conservation - a variety of nature surveys, tracking specific species such as small mammals, promoting bird habitats, and identifying species of interest.
  • Engaging hands on sessions on what we can do to lessen our impact on the planet through waste and sustainable fashion workshops.
  • Exhilarating coasteering and coastal wildlife spotting session.
  • Get advice from employers in the environmental sector on possible career paths within the environmental sector
