The Urdd Choir Trip to Alabama in 2022!

During the 2022 Easter Holidays, the newly formed Urdd Choir traveled to Birmingham, Alabama, and Atlanta, Georgia. During their visit, they performed in a concert at the University of Alabama at Birmingham alongside UAB's Gospel Choir, performed at the 16th Street Baptist Church's Easter Service, and performed at Atlanta's First Congregational Church where the choir met Andrew Young.

During the trip, the choir also visited Selma and Montgomery. There they had a guided tour of both cities by a local historian to learn more about the history of the civil rights movement.

The choir also enjoyed jazz, blues and classical concerts during their stay at Birmingham.

The partnership between Wales and Birmingham strengthened during the visit, as the young people from both areas came together to enjoy gospel music and share their different cultures.

We also hope to see the UAB Gospel Choir visit Wales to perform at the Urdd Eisteddfod in 2023 and learn about Welsh singing traditions.
