How old do you need to be to volunteer?

Individuals over the age of 14 can volunteer for the Urdd across Wales. Opportunities vary with age and more responsibilities are given as you get older.

Do you need any previous qualifications or experience to volunteer?

No previous qualifications or experience are required to volunteer with the Urdd. There are many volunteering opportunities where experience/qualifications are not required including the Urdd Eisteddfod, local clubs, sports clubs and much more.

However, if you have a sports coaching qualification, there will be more opportunities and responsibilities available to coach children and young people in our clubs.

How many voluntary hours do I need to complete to receive sports training/qualifications?

The sports department offers three volunteering pathways, which are the Bronze, Silver and Gold Pathways. Within each pathway there are opportunities to receive sports training and qualificiations.

The minimum number of voluntary hours required for each pathway in order to receive sports training and qualifications is:

  • Bronze pathway - 15 hours
  • Silver pathway - 30 hours
