The Urdd have developed a new system for volunteering in the sports department which includes three volunteering pathways.

Each pathway offers opportunities to gain sports qualifications, receive the Urdd kit, opportunities to join the Urdd sports forums and to receive mentoring from the Urdd staff and apprentices. As you progress from one pathway to the next, more responsibilities and opportunities will be offered to you as a volunteer.

Bronze Pathway

Bronze pathway requirements

  • Year 10 & 11
  • A member of the Urdd
  • Able to communicate with children and young people effectively

What's included in the bronze pathway?

  • I Can Lead training and qualification
  • DIT Level 1 training and qualification
  • Physical Literacy training and qualification
  • Urdd t-shirt and jumper
  • Support from the Urdd staff/apprentices whilst coaching
  • Monthly volunteer raffle
  • Opportunity to be part of a regional and national sports forum
  • Opportunities to volunteer at the Urdd sports tournaments

Roles and responsibilities

  • Assist the Urdd coaches in sports clubs and activities

 

Silver Pathway

Silver pathway requirements

  • Year 12 & 13 or completed the bronze pathway
  • A member of the Urdd
  • Able to communicate with children and young people effectively
  • Previous coaching experience

What's included in the silver pathway?

  • I Can Lead training and qualification
  • DIT Level 1 training and qualification (with the option to complete further training)
  • Physical Literacy training and qualification
  • CSLA2 training and qualification
  • NGB leadership training and qualification
  • Urdd t-shirt and jumper
  • Access to the Urdd training weekend (Aberystwyth University)
  • Support from the Urdd staff/apprentices whilst coaching
  • Assist bronze pathway volunteers
  • Monthly volunteer raffle
  • Opportunity to be part of a regional and national sports forum
  • Opportunities to volunteer at the Urdd sports tournaments

Roles and responsibilities

  • Assist the Urdd coaches in sports clubs and activities
  • Plan and lead activities within sport clubs
  • Willing to help bronze pathway volunteers

 

Gold Pathway

Gold pathway requirements

  • Over 18 years old or completed the silver pathway
  • A member of the Urdd
  • Able to communicate with children and young people effectively
  • Previous coaching experience
  • Coaching qualification

What's included in the gold pathway?

  • I Can Lead training and qualification
  • DIT Level 1 training and qualification (with the option to complete further training)
  • Physical Literacy training and qualification
  • CSLA2 training and qualification
  • NGB leadership training and qualification in a sport of your choice
  • Autism Awareness training and qualification
  • First Aid training and qualification
  • Urdd t-shirt and jumper
  • Support from the Urdd staff/apprentices whilst coaching
  • Assist bronze/silver pathway volunteers
  • Monthly volunteer raffle
  • Opportunity to be part of a regional and national sports forum
  • Opportunities to volunteer at the Urdd sports tournaments
  • Coach independently
