The Urdd have developed a new system for volunteering in the sports department which includes three volunteering pathways.

Each pathway offers opportunities to gain sports qualifications, receive the Urdd kit, opportunities to join the Urdd sports forums and to receive mentoring from the Urdd staff and apprentices. As you progress from one pathway to the next, more responsibilities and opportunities will be offered to you as a volunteer.

Bronze Pathway

Bronze pathway minimum volunteering hours:

  • 15 hours
  • At least 10 hours of voluntary time must be completed within weekly Urdd sports clubs

What's included in the bronze pathway?

  • I Can Lead training and qualification or equivelant
  • Disability Inclusion Training Level 1
  • Continual Proffesional Develop (CPD) workshops
  • Urdd t-shirt and jumper
  • Support and mentoring from the Urdd staff/apprentices whilst coaching
  • Opportunities to volunteer at the Urdd sports tournaments

Roles and responsibilities

  • Assist the Urdd coaches in sports clubs and activities

 

Silver Pathway

Silver pathway minimum volunteering hours:

  • 30 hours
  • At least 20 hours of voluntary time must be completed within weekly Urdd sports clubs

What's included in the silver pathway?

  • Content of Bronze Pathways
  • Safeguarding children and young people qualification
  • Sport specific leadership qualification
  • Urdd t-shirt and jumper
  • Support and mentoring from the Urdd staff/apprentices whilst coaching
  • Opportunities to volunteer at the Urdd sports tournaments

Roles and responsibilities

  • Assist the Urdd coaches in sports clubs and activities
  • Plan and lead activities within sport clubs
  • Willing to help bronze pathway volunteers

 

Gold Pathway

Gold pathway minimum volunteering hours:

  • 45 hours
  • At least 30 hours of voluntary time must be completed within weekly Urdd sports clubs

What's included in the gold pathway?

  • Content and Bronze and Silver Pathways
  • Sport specific level 1 qualification
  • First Aid training and qualification
  • Autism Awareness training and qualification
  • Urdd t-shirt and jumper
  • Support and mentoring from the Urdd staff/apprentices whilst coaching
  • Opportunities to volunteer at the Urdd sports tournaments
  • Coach independently
