Mah Zai Kakar

Twenty-year-old Mah Zai Kakar is originally from helmand province in Afghanistan. There she was working with USAID providing engaging female sessions and holding seminars for women so that they understand their rights. In addition, she had started to study a degree in Law.

After Kabul collapsed in August 2021, Mah had to flee the country from the Taliban. She came to Wales as a refugee with her brother Nasir, and was given a shelter at the Urdd residential centre in Cardiff. They have now settled in Cardiff.
